The confirmation by the Technical Committee completed a process undertaken by the Task Force which also included a public review process. The Technical Committee also approved the modification of the standard for decking (CSA 080.32) to include only heavy sapwood species. An alternative process type standard was also approved for Òwood products for light duty above ground residential uses by pressure processesÓ. This standard sets out minimum process requirements for treatment of residential non-structural products were incising is not used due to appearance considerations and where the wood species is refractory to treatment. Decking boards were included in this new standard. This standard results form recent advances understanding the factors influencing the performance of treated wood used above ground and is based on laboratory and 20 year field data.
