Next, we strongly recommend that you confirm your status in regards to whether you are able to enter China to attend IRG57 without a visa, or if you need to apply for a visa. This is important to do at least six weeks prior to IRG57, but preferably as soon as possible.

If you do need to obtain a Visa to enter China to attend IRG57 here are some instructions that may be helpful:

To apply for a Chinese tourist visa, you'll need to first determine the correct visa type, fill out the online application form on the China Online Visa Application (COVA) website, and then submit the completed form and supporting documents to the designated Chinese Embassy or Consulate or Visa Application Center.

Steps for Applying:
1. Determine the correct visa type: For tourism, you'll generally need a "L" visa.
2. Complete the online application form: Go to the COVA website and fill out the application form completely and accurately. Ensure all information matches your passport.
3. Gather supporting documents: This typically includes:
Valid passport: With at least six months of validity remaining and blank pages.
Passport photo: A recent, passport-sized photo that meets specific requirements.
Proof of travel: Round-trip air tickets, hotel reservations, and a detailed itinerary are usually required.
Other documents: May include proof of legal residency (if not applying in your home country), previous Chinese visas or passports, and an invitation letter (if applicable).
4. Submit your application: Visit the designated Visa Application Center (or the Embassy/Consulate) with your completed form and documents.
5. Pay the fees: Visa fees vary depending on your nationality and the type of visa. You can pay by credit card, money order, or cashier's check.
6. Collect your visa: You can either pick up your passport and visa at the center or have it mailed to you.

Important Considerations:
Timing: Apply for your visa at least one month before your intended travel date.
Accuracy: Ensure all information provided is accurate and truthful.
Follow instructions: Carefully follow the instructions provided by the Visa Application Center or Embassy/Consulate.
Contact information: Provide accurate contact information, including an email address.
Physical application: If your online application indicates that your photo is not qualified, bring an appropriate photo to the center when submitting your application, says the China Visa Application Service Center.
