This paper introduces a novel boron/polymer-based wood preservative that significantly reduces boron leaching, making it a promising advancement in wood preservation. The preservative utilises an ion exchange resin originally designed for boron removal from water. Laboratory tests have demonstrated that this new preservative is as effective as CCA and Cu-Azole in E-10 soil block tests. Ongoing aging tests in Hilo, Hawaii, USA, aim to evaluate the preservative's effectiveness under real-world conditions.
