About WPTT@BFU
Focusing on Green and Efficient Wood Protection Technologies
Research Group on Wood Protection Technologies and Theory (WPTT) belongs to College of Materials Science and Technology in Beijing Forestry University. The members of WPMG include 4 professors (Jinzhen Cao, Jun Mu, Songlin Yi, Yang Zhang), 4 associate professors (Erni Ma, Mingzhi Wang, Jian Lin, Zhengbin He), 2 assistant professors (Wang Wang, Yao Peng) and 1 lab technician (Junbo Shang).
Our mission is to enhance the performance and durability of wood products in both indoor and outdoor service by using green and cost-effective methods, including:

  • Develop new wood preservative systems;
  • Develop new water repellents and fire retardants;
  • Develop and optimize wood modification methods, including thermal modification and chemical modifications;
  • Design installations for wood drying and thermal modification.

WPTT@BFU has Wood processing and Analysis Laboratory and Wood Microbiology Laboratory. Our group specializes in testing the biological durability, dimensional stability, and photostability of wood and wood products. The testing methods include American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Wood Protection Association (AWPA), and Chinese Standards (GB), as well as internally developed test methods.
