The Wood Protection Research Group of Guangdong Academy of Forestry (WPRG@GAF) was established in 1997, which is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.
The members of WPRG include 5 professors (Xingwei Li, Yongjian Cao, Guijun Xie, Hongxia Ma, Lifang Chen), 2 associate professors (Wanju Li, Jianjing Wang), 3 assistant professors (Yixin Li, Jie Gao, Minting Lai) and 5 lab technicians (Lamei Li, Tingjun Zhang, Xiaofang Yang, Mingtian Kang, Yuanzheng Yang).
WPRG focuses on the protection technology of wood and bamboo, which is one of the earliest scientific research units on wood protection in China. With geographical advantages, WPRG provides evaluation services of biological durability such as laboratory mildew test, laboratory wood decay test, laboratory termite test, above-ground and ground-contact field tests for both domestic and international research institutions and companies. A wood preservative quality monitoring laboratory, a wood preservative laboratory, a biological laboratory, and a wood exposure test field of 3000 m2 have been established. Accumulated through years of research, WPRG has hold over or participated in the formulation of 17 national standards, 11 industry standards and 3 local standards.
Laboratory mildew test: The anti-mildew effect of wood or bamboo was tested according to GB/T 18261-2013 Test method for the control effect of mildew inhibitor on wood mold and discoloration bacteria.
Laboratory decay test: The anti-decay of wood or bamboo was tested according to LY/T 1283-2011 Laboratory test method of toxicity of wood preservatives to decaying bacteria.
Laboratory termite test: The anti-termite of wood or bamboo was tested according to GB/T 18260-2015 Laboratory Test Method of Toxicity of Wood Preservatives to Termites.
Above ground test: The durability of wood or bamboo is tested according to GB/T 29900-2013 Field near-ground test method for performance evaluation of wood preservatives, or GB/T 32767-2016 Test method for field ground L connectors for performance evaluation of wood preservatives.
Ground-contact field test: The anti-decay and termite resistance of wood and bamboo are tested according to GB/T 13942.2-2009 Wood Durability Performance Part 2: Natural Durability Field Test Method.
