IRG/WP 3402

M C Rose, A Bedoya

Product A based on methylenebisthiocyanate, product B based on methylenebisthiocyanate plus 2-thiocyanomethylthio-benzothiazole, product C based on 2-thiocyanomethilthio-benzothiazole and product D based on didecyl dimethil ammonium chloride plus 3-iodo-2 propynil butyl carbarnate were evaluated on Pinus radiata sawn timber as fungicides for sapstain and mould in the Sawmill Division of the Universidad del Bio-Bío. Product D causes stain and mould when used at 1.5% (it is recommended to be used at 0.5%). The other three products cause mould development, although they were checked at higher concentrations than indicated in the product data sheet. All four products are used in other countries with good results.
